SHANNA HINRICHS

LM, CPM

I am Shanna Hinrichs, and my story of community birth began over 20 years ago when I started supporting families as a doula, lactation consultant, and now midwife. I have known I was called to help women bring their babies earthside since I was a young child. I didn't know what that would look like, but  I was fortunate to witness a dear friend's intimate and precious home birth. That experience revealed my path as a birth worker and ignited my desire to serve women and their families in their most powerful and vulnerable moments.

I am fulfilled by serving my incredible clients as their families grow. Attending births builds my trust over and over in women's bodies' ability to transform and heal. I respect the responsibility of being a midwife and recognize what a privilege it is to facilitate an experience that best supports my client's wishes.

I was born and raised in Garland but have had the privilege to live in a few different states. I am married and have given birth to 9 children, each with their own different story. Having experienced 9 very different births and breastfeeding journeys, I have lots of hands-on personal experience to offer to you.

When not engrossed in the birth world, I enjoy spending time with my husband, homeschooling the 4 school-age kids still at home, and our dogs, as well as playing in the great outdoors, eating delicious food, and making our home in Rowlett as peaceful as a home with 5 kids (still living at home), 3 dogs, and 2 cats can be.

KRISTINE TAWATER

I am a wife & mother of 5, all naturally born  - 3 of them at home into the hands of midwives.  I consider it a privilege to be a Licensed Midwife in the State of Texas.

I started out my journey as a DONA certified birth doula in 2003 until I began midwifery training in 2009.  I received my academic education through the Association of Texas Midwives Midwifery Training Program (ATM-MTP). I was in an active apprenticeship with 4 different midwives & one Dallas birth center where the art of midwifery care was passed to me by some of the best midwives around!

I graduated from ATM-MTP in September of 2011 and received my license in early 2012. I am a Texas Licensed Midwife (LM) and I hold a national credential Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) through the North American Registry of Midwives. I am also an active member of the North Texas Midwives organization.
